Microbiology

Introduction

The DiagnosticReportMicrobiology profile is implemented to expose information about microbiology. There are two supporting profiles that are referenced in the main DiagnosticReportMicrobiology: ObservationMicrobiology and ServiceRequestMicrobiology. Furthermore, for the ObservationMicrobiology profile there is one more observation profile linked. ObservationMicrobiologyResistance.ObservationMicrobiology is used to expose the results of the microbiology report and ServiceRequestMicrobiology is used to expose the microbiology report request related information. ObservationMicrobiologyResistance is used to expose the resistance results for the tests done with antibiotics.

Included Profiles

Resources included in the Microbiology use cases are DiagnosticReportMicrobiology,ObservationMicrobiology, ObservationMicrobiologyResistance and ServiceRequestMicrobiology. Profiles for these are specified as following:

  • DiagnosticReportMicrobiology - Used to retrieve a complete microbiology report.

  • ObservationMicrobiology - Used to communicate results of a microbiology report. Mostly used as a included profile with the DiagnosticReportMicrobiology profile.

  • ServiceRequestMicrobiology - Used to retrieve the request information of a microbiology report. Mostly used as a included profile with the DiagnosticReportMicrobiology but can also be used separately.

  • ObservationMicrobiologyResistance - Used to show the results of a resistance test. Mostly used as a included profile with the ObservationMicrobiology profile.

Use Cases

  • View active or past microbiology reports and request information,
  • View resistance results related to the microbiology tests done.
  • Search for microbiology reports by patient, report id and date range using DiagnosticReportMicrobiology section.
