This latest Forge 2026.1.0 release introduces significant updates, focusing on advanced modeling capabilities, more robust validation, and improved package management to enhance your profiling workflow.

Enhanced Modeling and Resource Handling

Support for Clearing Elements: You can now clear elements, their properties, and their children. This action effectively removes any differential values for the element, making it easier to reset specific parts of a profile.

Automatic Specification Correction: Forge now automatically corrects FHIR specification errors when you open and resolve resources. This helps reduce manual troubleshooting for known issues within the core FHIR specification.

Improved Validation and Quality Control

New Default Validator: The new Firely validator is now used by default as the engine for Quality Control (QC) validation rules. This ensures a standard validation experience consistent with Simplifier and Firely Terminal.

Extension Context Validation: To ensure profile integrity, Forge now validates extensions within the element tree to check if they are being used in a valid context.

UI and Information Improvements

Obligation Extension Visibility: A new status flag has been added to the element tree view to indicate the use of the obligation extension. This flag is visible whether the obligation is defined globally on the Properties tab or directly on the element.

Project and Package Management

Support for Package Feeds: This release adds support for package feeds. For more information on how to utilize this feature, please refer to the Simplifier documentation on Package Feeds.

Refined Version Selection: When creating a new project, Forge will no longer select pre-release package versions by default if stable versions are available. Pre-release versions will only be selected automatically if no stable versions exist.

Support for Unlisted Packages: You now have the ability to add packages from Simplifier that are marked as unlisted as dependencies in your projects.
