Get Involved in Clinical and Technical Assurance Sprint 7
You are invited to register to participate in Sprint 7 of the Clinical and Technical Assurance process for a set of components for inclusion in a candidate FHIR UK Core Implementation Guide. The FHIR UK Core Implementation Guide is proposed to form a foundation for derivative FHIR Implementation Guides in development in a UK context and is based on the international standard that is common in other countries such as Canada, the US and Australia.
The scope of Sprint 7 is Clinical Observations and includes the following resources:
Existing Profiles *
- UK Core Observation
- UK Core Observation Vital Signs
along with other associated FHIR conformance assets such as Extensions, CodeSystems, ValueSets and ConceptMaps.
* Note: Sub-profiles for a set of specific observation types will be created based on a set of use cases as agreed during the C&TA process. These use cases will come from various sources and will be provided as a starting point for the discussion on the calls. Participants who wish to have their use cases included should submit their use cases for consideration in sprint 7 no later than 30th August 2023.
Example use cases such as NEWS2 and PEWS could propose profiles for some of the following:
- Blood Pressure
- Respiratory Rate
- Heart Rate
- Oxygen Saturation
- Body Temperature
- Body Height
- Body Length
The key value of this Clinical and Technical Assurance process is to have a multi-disciplinary collaboration in an agile team and provide the ability to improve the quality of the product for all. It helps stakeholders, including vendors, to understand the rationale and details behind the design based on use cases. Implementation issues can be raised, and collaborative resolution of these issues can be obtained before the specifications are published. The process promotes consistency in FHIR assets across different programmes and use cases to support interoperability.
