IE Core is a proof-of-concept set of FHIR R4 profiles for Ireland, aligned with the HIQA draft national standards (September 2026) for Electronic Prescriptions and Electronic Dispensations and the Patient Summary.

⚠️ Proof of concept, not for clinical use. Not affiliated with, or endorsed by, HIQA, the HSE, HL7 Ireland or the Department of Health. It follows consultation drafts that will change. All example patients, practitioners, organisations and identifiers are fictional.

What's inside

• ePrescription and eDispensation profiles built on HL7 Europe MPD 1.0.0. They cover the allergy statement, the age of a child under 12, controlled-drug rules, non-dispensation reasons, and the prescriber signature for cross-border prescriptions.
• Patient Summary profiles built on the HL7 Europe Patient Summary (EPS). Every empty section must say why.
• Data minimisation. An ePrescription carries only the HIQA EP patient dataset, so ethnicity, nationality and maiden name are prohibited.
• SNOMED CT Irish Edition, with real NMPC codes checked in the NMPC Meds Catalogue.
• HIQA logical models and element-by-element traceability for both standards.
• Eight synthetic scenarios: acute, paediatric, repeat, controlled drug, not dispensed, cross-border, full Patient Summary, empty Patient Summary.
