Overview

This Alberta Patient Summary HL7® FHIR® Implementation Guide (IG) supports implementers of clinical software systems that will use HL7 FHIR messages to publish and retrieve Alberta Patient Summaries to/from Alberta Netcare and its surrounding provincial Electronic Health Record (EHR) ecosystem. The guide includes:

• a description of the Alberta Patient Summary’s intended use, data elements, supported terminologies, and data submission rules;
• considerations for system integration to provincial assets using FHIR;
• and conformance expectations. This guide pertains to Release 1 of the Alberta Patient Summary, based on FHIR R4.0.1.
