Example 6 - Resistance Classifications - MRGN
The most important resistance classification in Germany is the MRGN classification, which is relevant for clinical care. For ARS, the MRGN classification is of secondary importance. If the MRGN classification is provided, it should only be provided as a final "observation" after describing the results of diagnostic testing for pathogen detection and phenotypic and genotypic resistance testing.
Similar to the final description of the resistance mechanism, the nonspecific code "272394005 technique (qualifier value)" is used as "Observation.method" for the description of the MRGN classification.
A LOINC code exists for mapping the MRGN classification. SNOMED codes must be requested for responses in the form of 2MRGN, 3MRGN, or 4MRGN.
