    What is FQL?

FQL is a query language that allows you to retrieve, filter and project data from any data source containing FHIR Resources. It brings the power of three existing languages together: SQL, JSON and FhirPath. It allows you to create tables and is useful for gaining insight and perform quality control.

NPCR_Targeted_Biopsy_Technique

Extension to record the technique used for MRI-targeted prostate biopsies, per NPCR Variabelbeskrivning variable D_RiktBioTeknik (Ange teknik).

Source variable: D_RiktBioTeknik

  • Datatyp: Lista (1/2/3/98)
  • Listvärden: 1 = Kognitiv, 2 = Fusion MR/ultraljud, 3 = I MR-maskin, 98 = Uppgift saknas
  • Teknisk giltighetstid: 2019-02-05 -
  • Obligatorisk: Nej (conditional)
  • Beteende/logik: D_RiktBiopsi = 1 → D_RiktBioTeknik = obligatorisk (only applies when targeted biopsies are performed)

This extension is bound to Procedure as its only context, specifically intended for use on NPCRBiopsyProcedure instances where the NPCR_Targeted_Biopsy extension = Ja.

Data type: code, bound (required) to NPCRTargetedBiopsyTechniqueCodes ValueSet containing the four technique options:

  • 1 = Kognitiv (cognitive — biopsy visually guided toward MRI-suspected lesion)
  • 2 = Fusion MR/ultraljud (MR-ultrasound fusion biopsy)
  • 3 = I MR-maskin (in-bore MRI-guided biopsy)
  • 98 = Uppgift saknas

Terminology binding rationale: NPCR documentation (Variabelbeskrivning, NPCR Manual page 16) defines the three clinical techniques with helpful definitions but does not provide an international code system binding. This extension uses the NPCRTargetedBiopsyTechnique CodeSystem to preserve documentation fidelity. Thesis Discussion addresses the documentation gap: SNOMED CT contains concepts for the three techniques (e.g., 442053006 Cognitive registration; 716816000 MR fusion) but NPCR Info Spec does not specify which codes to use.

Conditional requirement: This extension is only meaningful when the NPCR_Targeted_Biopsy extension = Ja (1); otherwise targeted biopsy technique is undefined. This conditional logic is documented here but not enforced at the Profile level.
