CTQ

The CTQ is a widely used tool to assess a history of childhood trauma. It consists of 28 items that evaluate experiences of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as physical and emotional neglect. Each item is rated on a 5-point Likert scale, from "never true" (1) to "very often true" (5), with higher scores indicating more frequent or severe trauma experiences. The total score is calculated by summing the item scores, and specific subscale scores are also derived for different types of trauma.

Since Pearson holds the copyright to the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), including the German translation, the questions and response options are not displayed here. Instead, a ValueSet is provided with the mapped codes.

This value set includes codes from the following code systems:

As the CTQ measures distressing experiences that occurred during childhood, it is important that the downstream data production explicitly reflects this temporal context.

For this, an exemplary QuestionnaireResponse instance was created.

QuestionnaireResponse

Derived from the questionnaire response, an Observation records the CTQ total score. Its effective date is the date of assessment, while a component states the period of life the reported experiences refer to, coded with SNOMED CT 68433009 |Childhood (finding)|.

Observation

The Observation references a Condition with an onset age, linking the observation to a history of psychological trauma.
