CDRS-R
The CDRS-R (Children’s Depression Rating Scale - Revised) is a widely used tool for assessing the severity of depressive symptoms in children and adolescents. It consists of 17 items evaluating areas such as mood, guilt, self-esteem, social withdrawal, and physical symptoms. Each item is scored on a scale from 0 to 5, with higher scores indicating greater severity. The total score is calculated by summing the scores of all items, resulting in a range from 0 to 113.
The CDRS-R is a copyrighted tool, and its use may be subject to specific licensing requirements depending on the context. Thus, a value set with NCI terms is provided.
The NCI terms don't describe exactly what is part of the instrument - but give more of an overall theme of each question which can be a solution for future database integration of items of psychiatric instruments into terminology databases.
The CDRS‑R was developed by Elva O. Poznanski and Hartmut B. Mokros and published in 1996. According to available information, the copyright for the CDRS‑R is held by the publisher Western Psychological Services (WPS) or the rights holder who commercially manages the scale. The German translation of the CDRS‑R is also protected by copyright, as it is based on the original English instrument and the translators hold copyright over the translation itself.
