As described in Consolidation Methodology, some custom extensions, code systems, and value sets developed by individual jurisdictions may be useful more broadly. These artifacts have therefore been incorporated into this implementation guide and, where appropriate, renamed using jurisdiction-neutral terminology.

This page identifies the affected canonical URLs so that SMART applications can translate between the generic definitions and their jurisdiction-specific equivalents. Value sets are included for reference only because they do not appear directly in resource instances.

Implementation Guidance

Support translation between generic and jurisdiction-specific canonical URLs.
During the transition period, accept both representations wherever practical.
Move progressively toward the national definitions as jurisdictional specifications are updated.
