NHS England FHIR Implementation Guide (deprecated)

Important Announcement regarding this Implementation Guide

As of 04/10/2023, this implementation guide has been deprecated and all development on the legacy NHS England FHIR Implementation Guide assets has ceased.
Therefore, vendors looking to start new implementations or looking to update existing implementations should use the new NHS England Implementation Guide. Vendors continuing to implement legacy NHS England FHIR Implementation Guide based solutions do so at their own risk and on the understanding that no maintenance or support will be available.

FHIR-CONF-01:

All servers offering a FHIR API MUST publish a FHIR conformance / capability statement (in the form of a CapabilityStatement resource) at the root URL of their FHIR Server. Following NHSDigital-CapabilityStatement profile.

FHIR-CONF-02:

All API's and/or Servers stating conformance to HL7 FHIR and the UK Core Implementation Guide MUST be validated (/tested) using approved HL7 FHIR Validation tooling. A list of approved validation tooling can be found on FHIR Validation
NHS Digital API's MUST be validated (/tested) against the NHS Digital Implementation Guide (this guide). This Implementation Guide includes UK Core conformance resources, so separate validation is not required.
