Usage

The Observation resource contains Observation information related to the medical imaging data for submission and retrieval.

Notes

.identifier

  • SHOULD contain the identifier of the observation. System and value SHALL be included.

.basedOn

  • SHOULD contain a reference of the order associated with the result

.status

  • SHALL contain a code indicating the status of the result

.code

  • SHALL contain the type of observation (code/type). If OBX-3 contains a code, it should be mapped to .coding. If OBX-3 contains a textual description, it should be mapped to the .text.
  • If OBX.3 is blank, use this in the .coding and skip .text

.subject

  • SHALL contain a reference to the patient

.effective[x]

  • SHOULD contain the clinically relevant time of the result

.value[x]

  • SHALL contain the actual result. For MI submission, this would be valueString that contains the entire textual report
  • If the source ORU has multiple OBXs to support multiple lines, contributor should combine all OBX-5 values into one textual blurb in valueString with proper formatting symbols. New lines should use \n. Tabs should use \t. If source OBX use different symbols for formatting, those symbols should be converted to these symbols when converting to valueString.

.interpretation

  • SHOULD contain the abnormal flag of the result

.note

  • SHOULD contain the comments about the result

.referenceRange

  • SHOULD contain the information on how to interpret the value by comparison to a normal or recommended range. A "low" or "high" value can be provided, or a textual range could be used.

.presentedForm

  • SHOULD contain the base64encoded content of the report for rendering purposes. If provided, contentType should be provided for the mime type of the content, and the content should be provided in data
