AJ Implementation Guide Home

About

This FHIR implementation guide is created by the Simplifier.net tool.

It is a test case for learning how to develop a full FHIR IG that can help the client APP developers to get started with using the mappings of APP objects and FHIR resoureces as recommended by the FHIR Governance Team. The IG's examples illustrate the correct use of the profiles as required by the FHIR API in order to validate the FHIR resource data submitted from the client APPs.

IG Aims

This IG is primarily intended to help VA APP developers to understand how to create FHIR resources for the VA PGHD FHIR API.

  1. Understand what terminologies are used and supported.
  2. Understand the mapping from the client APP objects to FHIR resources.
  3. Uneerstand what constraints are put on the FHIR resources.
  4. Understand profile-based validation of the submitted FHIR resources.

IG Contents

This guide contains the specifications of VA PGHD terminologies and FHIR API. The VA PGHD terminology includes the VA PGHD code system and various value sets that are defined for the apps serving the vaterans of USA. The VA PGHD FHIR API supports storage and search for the data coming from the apps, which is part of the interoperability efforts in VA.

To ensure data quality for the benefits of the veterans, VA, and the apps, the API defines and implements a series of custom profiles that are used to validate FHIR resource data summitted from the apps.

There are FHIR resource examples that help developers to create resources in order to comply with the PGHD profiles and the APP-FHIR mapping recommended by the PGHD Technical Governance Team.
