1.2. Relationship to Other Specifications

This implementation guide (IG) is based on HL7 FHIR R4.0.1 and defines the FHIR interactions required to support consent override requests submitted to the Ontario Health Provincial Consent Override Interface (PCOI) service. It is not related to any other existing Ontario Health or pan-Canadian implementation guides.

1.2.1. Referencing

This IG does not reference or derive from other existing Ontario Health or pan-Canadian implementation guides.

1.2.2. Profiling Strategy

  • This implementation guide focuses on the definition of FHIR interactions and supporting artifacts required to submit and process consent override requests.
  • Unlike repository-specific implementation guides, PCOI does not define clinical content profiles, data submission profiles, or repository-specific resource constraints.
  • PCOI leverages standard FHIR R4 resources and interactions to provide a consistent consent override workflow across participating provincial repositories.
  • Clinical data models and profiles used by participating repositories continue to be governed by their respective implementation guides and specifications.
