Context
The Digital Health Drug Repository (DHDR) is a provincial source of drug and pharmacy service information with information from the Ministry of Health, community pharmacies and hospitals. The repository provides Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to be used by authorized applications and systems to contribute, retrieve and display DHDR data to/from the repository.
The DHDR Database and Web Services solution encompasses:
- APIs that allow hospital information systems,community pharmacy management systems and the Ministry of Health’s Health Network System to contribute administered drug, dispensed drug, and pharmacy service information to the DHDR
- Validation of patient (client) and provider information using provincial registries
- Augmentation of drug information using Health Canada’s Drug Product Database (DPDB) and Licensed Natural Health Products Database (LNHPD) and Canada Health Infoway’s Canadian Clinical Drug Database (CCDD)
- A data quality solution and services to support conformance, clinical validation, and data quality maintenance activities by Ontario Health and DHDR data contributors
- APIs that allow health care provider and patient consumer applications and systems (e.g., provincial viewers, electronic medical record systems, hospital information systems) to query and display administered drug, dispensed drug, and pharmacy service information to authorized providers/organizations
- DHDR queries via the ONE Access Gateway (OAG): provider OAG for health care provider applications, consumer OAG for patient consumer applications
- Integration with Ontario Health’s Consent Management Technology Asset (CMTA) and Provincial Consent Override Interface (PCOI) for consent management purposes
