Actor Definitions (CA-Core)

This early subset release currently includes two generic Actors to describe systems claiming conformance to CA Core profiles.

As the collaborative approach to interpreting the expectations of the pan-Canadian Health Data Content Framework (pCHDCF) is refined, other Actors (e.g., Registry Server CA Core) may be incorporated to differentiate between expectations.

As ActorDefinitions are an R5 resource and not consumable alongside R4 resources in the Simplifier tooling currently, the actors have been described but not profiled within the project.

Server Actor CA Core

This is a FHIR Server that seeks to claim conformance to CA Core Profile(s).

The Server is only expected to meet the Obligations for the FHIR Profiles it has claimed conformance to in its CapabilityStatement. This ensures that FHIR Servers expecting to support only certain types of information (e.g., Immunizations) are not held to the obligations for resources they are not scoped to support (e.g., MedicationStatements).

Client Actor CA Core

This is a Client that seeks to claim conformance to CA Core Profile(s).

The Server is only expected to meet the Obligations for the FHIR Profiles it has claimed conformance to in its CapabilityStatement. This ensures that FHIR Clients expecting to support only certain types of information (e.g., Immunizations) are not held to the obligations for resources they are not scoped to support (e.g., MedicationStatements).
