Introduction

This section describes how to define different type of dosage instructions when creating a prescription for a patient by a few examples.

All examples on this page focus on how to consctruct a dosage instruction for a specific setup. All other information in the examples (the medication requests) are striped down to a minimum, i.e. they are valid FHIR resources but incomplete for the National Medication List.

Examples

Example 1 - Frequence administration

Frequence administration (sv. frekvensdosering), 1 tablet 3 times daily. This instruction has the short notation "1x3".

Example 2 - Frequence administration

Frequence administration (sv. frekvensdosering), 1 tablet 3 times weekly. This instruction has the short notation "1x3/v".

Example 3 - Timed administration

Timed administration (sv. tillfällesdosering) with period at day, 1 tablet in the morning, 2 tablets at lunch, 3 tablets in the evening and 4 tablets for the night. This instruction has the short notation "1+2+3+4".

Example 4 - Timed administration

Timed administration (sv. tillfällesdosering) with time, 1 tablet at 8 AM, 1 tablet at 12 AM, 1 tablet at 6 PM. This instruction has the short notation "1kl 8+1kl 12+1kl 18".

Example 5 - Interval administration

Interval administration (sv. intervalldosering), 1 tablet every three hours. This instruction has the short notation "1 var 3t".

One time administration (sv. engångsdosering), 3 tablets one time in the evening.

Example 7 - Free text dosage

Free text dosage (sv. fritextdosering), as per the written instruction. This instruction has the short notation "Eo".

Example 8 - Frequence administration with intervals

Frequence administration (sv. frekvensdosering) with dose and frequence intervals, 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day. This instruction has the short notation "1-2x3-4".

Example 9 - Timed administration with intervals

Timed administration (sv. tillfällesdosering) with period at day and dose in intervals, 1-2 tablet in the morning, 3-4 tablets at lunch. This instruction has the short notation "1-2+3-4+0+0".

Example 10 - Free text dosage

Free text dosage (sv. fritextdosering), 0-2 tablets if needed. This instruction has the short notation "0-2".

Frequence administration (sv. frekvensdosering) with dose and frequence intervals, 1-2 tablets 0-3 times daily. This instruction has the short notation "1-2x0-3".

Example 12 - Free text dosage

Free text dosage (sv. fritextdosering), 1-2 tablets if needed max 6 tablets per day. This instruction has the short notation "1-2vb max6/d".

Example 13 - Timed administration

Timed administration (sv. tillfällesdosering), 1 tablet for the night if needed, max 4 tablets per week. This instruction has the short notation "1tn vb".

Example 14 - Frequence administration

Frequence administration (sv. frekvensdosering), 1-2 tablets 3-4 times daily, max 2 tablets every three hours for 4-5 weeks. This instruction has the short notation "1-2x3-4 max 2 var 3t i 4-5v".

Example 15 - Frequence administration

Frequence administration (sv. frekvensdosering), 1 tablet 3 times daily for 3 weeks. This instruction has the short notation "1x3 i3v".

Example 16 - Free text dosage

Free text dosage (sv. fritextdosering), 2 tablets 3 times daily for 3 weeks, then 1-2 tablets once daily if needed for 2 months. This instruction has the short notation "2x3 i 3v; 1-2x1vb i 2m".
