Alignment with Canadian Standards

Canadian FHIR Baseline Profiles (Core-CA)

This specification is aligned with the Canadian Baseline profiles to the best of our ability though it is not possible to completely align with the R4 Canadian Core profiles.

Alignment Notes

The following key items are worth noting:

  1. All identifiers have a mandatory system and code in the baseline profiles. This rule is adhered to wherever possible, but PCS cannot have a mandatory system in all cases as these values may not exist (eg when mapping from CPHA). As such this specification is not 100% compliant.
  2. No baseline Bundle profile exists
  3. No baseline Message Header profile exists
  4. No baseline Claim profile exists
  5. Organization Profile extension, optional. This has not been added but may be used in the future if a use case arises. http://hl7.org/fhir/ca/baseline/StructureDefinition/ext-servicelanguage
  6. There will not be a formal dependency established at this time. Work is underway to relax some of the rules in the base profiles to accommodate various implementations.
  7. There are requried bindings identified for some terminology sets, including the medication code.

PrescribeIT

This specification is aligned with PrescribeIT profiles to the best of our ability for the resources/profiles that are present in PCS. The PrescribeIT specification is based on a May 2016 version, and at time of writing there is no R4 PrescribeIT specification. As such, best efforts have been made though alignment is not perfect.

DHDR - Ontario

Discussions with this group are pending. An iniital discussion took place in 2022; however further discussions are required in order to ensure there is alignment where needed. Some discrepancies have been noted and if required by stakeholders, this may be addressed in the future.
