identifier | Σ | 0..* | Identifier | There are no (further) constraints on this element Element IdOrganizationAffiliation.identifier Business identifiers that are specific to this role DefinitionBusiness identifiers that are specific to this role. Often, specific identities are assigned for the agent.
|
active | Σ | 0..1 | boolean | There are no (further) constraints on this element Element IdOrganizationAffiliation.active Whether this organization affiliation record is in active use DefinitionWhether this organization affiliation record is in active use. Need to be able to mark an organization affiliation record as not to be used because it was created in error, or otherwise no longer in active use. If this value is false, you may refer to the period to see when the role was in active use. If there is no period specified, no inference can be made about when it was active. This resource is generally assumed to be active if no value is provided for the active element
|
period | Σ I | 0..1 | Period | There are no (further) constraints on this element Element IdOrganizationAffiliation.period The period during which the participatingOrganization is affiliated with the primary organization DefinitionThe period during which the participatingOrganization is affiliated with the primary organization. An affiliation may be created ahead of time and only be active for a defined period of time. Once the affiliation is complete, the fact that it existed may still be required. A Period specifies a range of time; the context of use will specify whether the entire range applies (e.g. "the patient was an inpatient of the hospital for this time range") or one value from the range applies (e.g. "give to the patient between these two times"). Period is not used for a duration (a measure of elapsed time). See Duration.

References SHALL be a reference to an actual FHIR resource, and SHALL be resolveable (allowing for access control, temporary unavailability, etc.). Resolution can be either by retrieval from the URL, or, where applicable by resource type, by treating an absolute reference as a canonical URL and looking it up in a local registry/repository.

Profile usage
The OrganizationAffiliation resource is used to establish a relationship between a Organization resources such as Service Organization and Providers (provider locations) in addition to defining services that are offered via the HealthcareService resource. Hierarchies between a provider agency and provider location are captured via Organization.partOf
.
Profile element notes
.organization
- SHOULD reference the service organization that owns the contract with the participatingOrganization
.participatingOrganization
- SHOULD reference a provider agency, provider location, or payer entity that will be offering services or covering the cost of services rendered, defined by the
.code
.code
- In a 'provider' role, the agency or provider-location Organization type (Organization referenced in
.participatingOrganization
) will be assigned to a service organization Organization type (Organization referenced in.organization
) - In a 'payper' role, the payer account (Organization referenced in
.participatingOrganization
) will be assigned to a agency or provider-location Organization type (Organization referenced in.organization
)
.healthcareService
- SHOULD reference all currently offered services between the participatingOrganization and Organiztion
.period
- When an affiliation is created, the
.period.start
date SHOULD be set to today the earliest date the relationship will be referenced - When an affiliation no longer exists, the
.period.end
date SHOULD be set to the last day it was active
.location
- MAY specify physical location where the affiliation is valid or applicable
- Will typically represent the business region for offered services (relative to the service organization)
