Project

The BMBF funded project Interagent has the goal promoting of Artificial Intelligence in higher education.

The project objective is to create an AI-supported intelligent tutoring system (ITS) that helps with and assess learning processes for health professions degree programs and a cross-professional certificate program for health professions students to teach application-oriented basics of AI.

All learning content is implemented in an open source eLearning platform (productive: best-edx.charite.de). At all decision points on user-related and topic-dependent variables (interactions with the eLearning platform), the learner model is further developed and the optimal path is continued according to the Bayesian network. In addition, the teaching model and knowledge design are further developed in a moderated manner by means of a voting tool for content and suggestions for additional content and teaching materials by learners. The necessary interface between the eLearning platform, learner model and teaching model is based both on standards for interoperability of decision support in medicine, e.g. FHIR (Lehne et al. 2019. Open interoperability is used to implement a service-oriented architecture (SOA).

This makes the integration of AI scalable beyond the eLearning platform used. At the same time, the AI can be further developed on the basis of homogeneous data without direct intervention in the eLearning platforms.
