| public | Public | Public sector organisations are government-owned for public service, funded by taxes. Examples include general hospitals, state schools and prisons. |
| private | Private | Private sector organisations are businesses owned by individuals and driven by profit. Examples include private hospitals and private schools. |
| third | Third | Third sector organisations focus on social, cultural or environmental goals, reinvesting surpluses and operating independently of government and profit motives. Examples include charities and NGOs (non-governmental organisations). |
