4.6. Downloads

This implementation guide is web-based and is intended to be browsed online. However, for the convenience of implementers, both this implementation guide and its resource definitions are available to download for local use.

4.6.1. FHIR Resource Validation

Below are links to a couple useful tools to support implementers with validation of FHIR Resource instances.

FHIR Validator

The HL7 FHIR Validator checks resource instances against the FHIR specification and selected implementation guide profiles. Download validator_cli.jar from the official validator releases, and see the HL7 validation guidance.

Example using the released eForms package, version 1.1.0-snapshot1:

java -jar validator_cli.jar your-resource.json -version 4.0.1 -ig "ca.on.oh-eforms#1.1.0-snapshot1" -html-output qa.html

Replace your-resource.json with the resource to validate. The -version 4.0.1 argument selects FHIR R4, -ig loads the eForms package and its dependencies, and -html-output writes the results to qa.html. Select the package version matching the IG release you are implementing.

Loading a package does not, by itself, require conformance to every profile in that package. Declare the applicable profile in the resource's meta.profile, or specify it with -profile (for example, -profile "http://ontariohealth.ca/fhir/eforms/StructureDefinition/sdc-questionnaire" for a Questionnaire).

For an unpublished local IG build, replace the -ig value with "output/package.tgz" and run the command from the IG project root after building with IG Publisher. This validates against the local draft rather than the released snapshot. Use the FHIR package (.tgz), not the static website ZIP.
