Condition

Conditions are defined as problems before, during our after the event of breast implant surgery.

There are two categories of conditions: pre-existing conditions and conditions that occur during or after the breast implant surgery. The latter are called complications.

Complications are the result of the actual procedure.

Complication

The FHIR definition for a complication during or after breast implant surgery is listed below and can be seen in Simplifier: DBIR Condition.

This profile is based on the Compilcation base profile for FHIR version R4, see also Condition.

ValueSets

Conditions, both complications as well as pre-existing conditions, are represented by numerous DICA indicators. Each indicator relates to a different event or artifact. For example, the indicator capsular pertains to:

The shrinkage of the foreign body encapsulation scar tissue that forms around artificial implants imbedded in body tissues.

The datatype of this indicator in the DBIR clinical registry is Boolean, True or False. However, in the case of capsular is observed, this event can relate to three different definitions expressed as SNOMED codes.

The following valueset represent the possible SNOMED codes pertaining to the indicator Capsular
