The next iteration of the UK Core Implementation Guide (starting 27th February for the March 2020 Guide) will be developed in the public domain and will be refreshed dynamically as part of the development process for all changes or updates.
This is to provide an open development process of the UK Core for the FHIR Community and so readers need to be aware of this and understand that all guide content is under development.
As well as the visible, on-going development, there will be a defined review period scheduled which will be communicated in good time for members of the FHIR community to do their review and provide feedback on a specific version of the UK Core Guide as part of the Clinical and Technical Assurance process.
The FHIR assets (Profiles ValueSet etc) will be updated independently in the Simplifier project space which is used by UK Core Implementation Guide. Issues may be raised against FHIR Assets but again, these are still under development as they have not been Clinically and technically assured at this stage.
Issues raised against the UK Core will be triaged and added to the UK Core development backlog. The actual version that the corrections or changes appear in is dependent on many factors such as, priority, resourcing etc. The process for this will be decided by a SME group consisting of UK Core development from NHS Digital , NHSWIS and other interested parties including members of the FHIR community.
Issues may be raised against FHIR Assets at any time but as stated, these are still under development.
Once a there is an implementable version * of the UK Core this will be exported from Simplifier and hosted on a separate release platform.
* A version that has been Clinically and Technically assured and deemed stable enough for implementation by at least FoTs , private Betas etc.
