The NHS England Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) supports the prescribing of medication for dispensing in the community via the following prescribing use cases:
- Primary Care, Community Care and Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) medication requests to community pharmacy (aka a signed FP10 paper form in the legacy paper process).
- Outpatient medication requests to be dispensed by a Community Pharmacy (aka a signed FP10HNC paper form in the legacy paper process).
- Outpatient medication requests to a contracted Outpatient pharmacy.
- Outpatient medication requests to a Homecare medicines provider.
This is the NHS England Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) FHIR Medicines Implementation Guide extension to the core NHS Digital FHIR Implementation Guide which is derived from the UK Core implemementation of the FHIR R4 international standard.
This guide must be read inconjunction with the NHS England EPS FHIR Prescribing API and/or EPS FHIR Dispensing API specifications.
This guide should be used in conjunction with the NHS England Dose Syntax Implementation Guidance which is part of the wider Interoperable Medicines UK Core guide.
