This section describes how this Implementation Guide (IG) relates to other specifications, standards, and profiling strategies.

Use the following subheadings consistently across IGs (if possible): Referencing; Profiling Strategy If there is a need, add Variances section to capture notable devations from referenced standards

1.2.1. Referencing

Note to IG Authors:
Specify which other IGs or standards this IG references or derives from (e.g., IPS, CA Core+, US Core, Infoway specs).
Use clear language: “This IG derives from X by constraining…”

Example:
This IG directly derives from CA Core+ and additionally constrains profiles to meet Ontario-specific business requirements.

1.2.2. Profiling Strategy

Note to IG Authors:
Describe the overall approach to profiling (e.g., layering on CA Core+, imposing jurisdictional extensions, reusing national value sets).
