Profiles Overview
The following profiles are defined in this implementation guide.

| MedicAlert Bundle | The bundle is the container resource that inludes all the other resources in the MedicAlert patient summary returned by the first responder API. The MedicAlert summary Bundle is based on the Bundle in the International Patient Summary standard, which itself is intended to be a summary of a patient's health information which is minimal and non-exhaustive; specialty-agnostic and condition-independent; but still clinically relevant. The IPS is designed for supporting the use case scenario for ‘unplanned, cross border care’ (where borders can mean international, regional, or organisational), but it is not limited to this use case. |

| MedicAlert Composition | The Composition resource is the first resource in the returned patient summary bundle, and defines the structure and narrative content necessary for the summary document. The Composition Clinical document used to represent the MedicAlert Patient Summary based on the International Patient Summary (IPS) data set. | MedicAlert AllergyIntolerance | This profile represents the constraints applied to AllergyIntolerance resource by the MedicAlert AllergyIntolerance profile based on the International Patient Summary (IPS) FHIR Implementation Guide. A record of an allergy or intolerance is represented in the patient summary as an instance of an AllergyIntolerance resource constrained by this profile. It documents the relevant allergies or intolerances (conditions) for a patient, describing the kind of reaction (e.g. rash, anaphylaxis,..); preferably the agents that cause it; and optionally the criticality and the certainty of the allergy. |
